Salt Bae Sparked Debate for Selling a Steak for up to Rp 12 Million.
October 4, 2021

Salt Bae, the famous Turkish chef, has opened a new restaurant in London. There is a steak that he sells for up to Rp.12 million.

Before opening in London, Salt Bae, whose real name is Nusret Gökçe, already operated several high-end steakhouses in Turkey. But with his fame, he turned himself and his restaurant into a global brand. Currently, there are more than 15 Nusr-Et Steakhouses worldwide, including in luxury locations such as Dubai, Miami, and New York.

This bill sparked some interesting arguments. Some people think that no cut of beef is worth £630 and that 'obscene' amount of cost should be spent for hungry children. However, some people argued that as long as the customers are willing to pay for the bills, there's nothing that should be concerned about.

He posted a photo of a food bill from Salt Bae's London restaurant. On the bill was written the total payment of USD 2,400 or equivalent to Rp 34 million. The restaurant bill also showed several other expensive items; including the "gold burger" USD 135 or equivalent to Rp 1.8 million, salad USD 30 or equivalent to Rp 428 thousand, sweet corn dish $ 16 or equivalent to Rp 220 thousand, to Red Bull USD 15 or equivalent to Rp 200 thousand.
