Introducing Dr. Jonny Kim, a NASA astronaut who took the spotlight. Jonny Kim was selected by NASA to join the 2017 Astronaut Candidate Class. According to NASA, he reported for duty in August 2017 and in April 2021, Kim was selected to serve as the International Space Station’s Increment Lead for Expedition 65.
He was also a U.S. Navy SEAL and has completed more than 100 combat operations and is the recipient of the Silver Star and Bronze Star with Combat “V”.
Kim also obtained his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed his internship with Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
