Apple has officially launched its new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. These two screen-size models have bezels that are now claimed to be thinner with a width of 3.5 mm. The screen itself adopts a Liquid Retina XDR Display mini-LED panel with a maximum brightness level of 1,600 nits. It is also equipped with the ProMotion Display feature, allowing the screen to refresh up to 120 Hz.
In addition to design, the latest 2021 MacBook Pro can be configured with two new chipsets made by Apple, namely the M1 Pro or M1 Max. The M1 Pro consists of an 8-core or 10-core processor (CPU) with a 16-core graphics processor (GPU), supporting up to 32 GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the M1 Max consists of a 10-core CPU and a 24-core or 32-core GPU, supporting up to 64GB of RAM.
The 2021 MacBook Pro also comes with a squared-off design and a wider selection of ports in addition to the standard Thunderbolt ones. The Thunderbolt ports are now Thunderbolt 4, an upgrade from the Thunderbolt 3 ports on the previous models. The 14-inch also includes a “high-fidelity” speaker system and a headphone jack that supports “high impedance” headphones.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro 2021 battery is claimed to have a durability of 17 hours when used to play videos, while the 16-inch model has a video playback time of up to 21 hours. Charging the battery is done with the MagSafe 3 connector, which is now back after being replaced by USB C.
Unlike the previous series, Apple’s new MacBook Pro now carries a screen design decorated with a notch like an iPhone. The notch brings a FaceTime camera with a 1080p resolution with a larger image sensor and an image processing chip (ISP) to process photos or videos. But still, the camera can’t offer Apple’s Face ID system yet.
