The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Pandjaitan, admitted that there had been a decline in COVID-19 cases in Java and Bali up to 76 percent from the peak of cases that occurred on July 15. However, the extension of the PPKM in Java-Bali still needs to be done to keep the decline in cases more sloping until August 23, 2021.
Meanwhile, PPKM outside Java-Bali will remain until August 23. The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said that the Level 3 PPKM area could carry out activities with a capacity of 50 percent, including education, worship, and shopping centers.
The Press Conference continued with the Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, conveying the good news that Indonesia is currently ranked 8th in the world with a high vaccination rate reaching 83 million injections today.
Luhut added that PPKM will always continue while the pandemic is still ongoing as an instrument to control community mobility and activities. If the situation gets better followed by continuous evaluation, the government will reduce the level of strictness to a lower level which means get near to normal life.
