A Company in China Allows Employees to Take a Day Break When They Are Not In The Mood To Work.
January 7, 2022

At the Dinosaur Park Cultural Tourism Group, China, staff are allowed to take daybreak when they are not in the mood to work. The company's policy, called "mood day," allows employees to take one day off per month. Employees don't need to mention complicated reasons because management won't ask. Each staff is permitted to take one paid holiday per month to relax.

The company has been implementing this policy for three years to make employees work more happily and efficiently, quoting from company’s spokesperson Chen Qingcheng to the Dailymail.co.uk. At first, before this policy, staff were allowed to take a short break from their posts at the theme park to adjust their mood, but later the management decided to give them one day a month to deal with stress.

China is one of the countries in Asia known for long working hours and unhealthy work culture. The Chinese government introduced the Mental Health Law of the People's Republic of China to promote employee welfare in 2013. This law is the first to address mental health there. However, according to VICE, the law doesn't seem to mean much at work.
