Malang mayor, Sutiaji, urges village heads (lurah) and district heads (camat) to install chat application MiChat to help eradicate online prostitution.
He argues that the chat application is a platform rampantly used by sex workers to get customers, and local authorities should maintain stability in their areas by being vigilant of such activity.
“I want lurah and camat to install MiChat as a surveillance in their respective areas,” Sutiaji said during a morning assembly in Malang on Monday (14/3), as quoted by Surya.co.id. “This is not for personal use.”
Sutiaji was inspired to use MiChat in his war against sex workers after his authorities caught 15 sex workers in the area of Dinoyo. He said investigation found that the sex workers accepted customers at inns after meeting them online through MiChat.
