The Police’s Cyber Crime Directory has arrested YouTube celebrity Doni Salmanan for alleged fraud under the illegal binary option platform Quotex he promoted. Doni is facing multiple charges on Electronic Information and Transaction, fraud, and money laundering, with potential maximum punishment of 20 years in jail.
It is reported that the 23 year-old YouTuber was interrogated for 13 hours and had to answer 90 grueling questions from the Police before finally arrested on Tuesday (8/3).
The Police has confiscated his cellphones, transfer proof, and a USB flash disk with videos from his YouTube account Kingsalman. The Police also has taken over his YouTube account, and two email accounts to access the YouTube channel and Quotex.
Doni Salmanan is known for showing off his riches on his social media accounts. He loved to create contents around fancy cars and other luxurious items he owned. He created quite a buzz when he gave away money to people on a busy street in Bandung, and donated Rp 1 billion to another YouTuber, Reza Arap, during an online game session.
Doni often promoted Quotex on his YouTube account, claiming that it is a safe trading option to multiple your money quickly. He also claimed that his referral members never suffered any loss despite the high-risk nature of binary option trading. In fact, Police investigation finds that his members quickly suffers terrible loss, and Doni grabs a profit from 80 percent from the member's loss. Early Police findings show that he had around 25,000 members on a Telegram chat group.
