DKI Jakarta is in the position of a province with a low level of happiness, according to Badan Pusat Statistik. DKI Jakarta is ranked 27 out of 34 provinces. Badan Pusat Statistik did a survey measuring the level of happiness in 2021. The survey is carried out every three years. Badan Pusat Statistik utilized three dimensions to measure the level of happiness of the Indonesian population in 2021: life satisfaction, life affect, and how people value their life (eudaimonia).
The survey was released on January 1, 2022, was carried out simultaneously in all districts or cities in 34 provinces throughout Indonesia. Badan Pusat Statistik also explained that the number of household samples in the survey reached 75 thousand spread across 34 provinces. The survey was conducted from July 1 to August 27, 2021.
The Happiness Index in DKI Jakarta decreased compared to 2017. In 2017, the Happiness Index of DKI was at 71.33, while in 2021, the Happiness Index of DKI became 70.68.
Maluku Utara tops the list with a score of 76.34.
