Japan’s Princess Mako Loses Royal Status to Marry.

Japan’s Princess Mako says goodbye to her family as she loses her royal status by marrying a commoner. The former princess is the eldest of two daughters of Crown Prince Fumihito and is the niece of Emperor Naruhito.

According to Reuters, she married her college sweetheart on Tuesday (26/10), giving up her royal title and saying she was determined to build a happy life with her “irreplaceable" husband after a tumultuous engagement.

Princess Mako is taking her husband's surname "Komuro". Kei Komuro, Princess Mako's husband returned from New York, where he got a law degree from Fordham University Law School and works in a law firm. The pair plan to relocate to New York.
